What is the point of the BeatingBullies service? At BeatingBullies, we want to arrange a discussion that would never happen face-to-face between the principal and an unhappy kid . We know that this is only going to happen if the kid feels totally safe and so our service is designed to make sure that his or her identity is hidden at all times.
Will the principal know it's me? No, absolutely not. We keep you hidden throughout. Instead of seeing your name, the principal will see either "Respondent 2" or the nickname that you choose for yourself. The only way the principal will know it's you is if you give yourself away in your comments. What information do you collect from me? In the beginning, we ask you your grade and whether you're a boy or a girl. We then ask you to enter an email address (which could be the one you use all the time, or another one that you create especially for this).
Do you track my IP address? No we don't. We want you to feel as safe as possible when you use our service. Do you collect or track cookies? No we don't. We want you to feel as safe as possible when you use our service. Won't my email address give me away? No we don't share your email address with anybody. It is stored safely in our system and no-one sees it. The only reason we need your email address is so that our system can get in touch with you after the school principal replies to your comments.
I would still rather not give my real email address. Is that a problem? No it's not a problem. If you're really, really worried about protecting yourself, you don't have to use your real email address. You can create a new one (for example, using gmail or yahoo) and use that for BeatingBullies. The only problem is that if you don't check it often, you might miss any alerts from our system telling you that there has been a reply to your comments. So if you do use a separate email address which isn't the one you usually use, then please make sure that you forward all the mail to that address to an email address that you do check often.
Are my answers secure? Yes, absolutely. Everything you type is encrypted and stored securely on our server.
